About this property

Welcome to Kaimana Beach Hotel

Set on a quieter stretch at the far end of Waikiki, Kaimana Beach Hotel offers a more relaxed alternative to the bustling center of Honolulu. The property features airy rooms equipped with private balconies and free Wi-Fi, providing guests with pleasant ocean or city views, though some are partially obstructed by neighboring buildings. Rooms are described as small and somewhat dated despite updates, reflecting a more modest style compared to nearby resorts.

Additional amenities include a convenience store and a beauty salon, with access to beach equipment allowing for easy beachside enjoyment. While there is no pool on-site, the hotel’s location grants direct access to one of Oahu’s nicest beaches, where guests often spot local wildlife such as monk seals and sea turtles.

The hotel's setting is well-suited for travelers seeking a peaceful seaside stay within walking distance of key Honolulu attractions like Diamond Head crater, the Honolulu Zoo, and Waikiki Aquarium. We chose the Kaimana Beach Hotel on a local friend's recommendation since we didn't want to stay directly in Waikiki, but also wanted to be close enough to Honolulu and the beach to go to dinners and see the ocean, and the hotel definitely fits that bill. That being said, the hotel is older, and although they have updated the rooms, they are still small and feel like they are from the 60's. Also, we had upgraded to an "Ocean View" room, which was really a "City View" room that you could see the water from. We had dreamed of watching the sunset from our balcony and waking up to hearing the ocean, but we couldn't see the sunset without leaning over the railing, and we were woken up to hearing the roosters in the park below. (There was also a party in the park below the first night, which was a bit of a bummer). The restaurant is very popular, so make reservations if you plan to stay in for any of your meals. The staff was very nice as well, so overall it was a pleasant experience.

Great location away from the bustle of Waikiki but walking distance through the park. Ocean view king was great - view of the ocean, Honolulu, and mountain. Fabulous room with deck. Really nice open air lobby. Great food and service in the restaurant but pricey. Nice beach in front.

A lovely hotel right on the beach (we had a seal stop by and hang out all day) that tells me it was a great place if the wild life find it safe! The room I had (Queen with ocean view) was perfect size for a solo traveler. Every single employee was lovely, friendly, and smiling. The Hau tree restaurant was always so busy (make reservations well in advance of your stay if you want to get a table for lunch or dinner!). The bartenders were wonderful always!

We loved the view of Diamond Head from our room, the on-site restaurant with ocean views and the ease of grabbing beach chairs and towels as we strolled out to the beach. The decor is fresh and inviting. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Hope to return again!!!

Amazing location on the quieter side of Waikiki. The hotel sits on one of the nicest beaches on Oahu. We saw whales breaching out of the water at breakfast. A rare Monk seal visited several times during our stay. And we were able to spot sea turtles in the water off the jetty at the end of the beach Service is friendly, quick, and competent. There's good quality (but expensive) coffee available at a little coffee bar on site. The lobby, bar, and main restaurant are all open to the outside, cooled by gentle Trade Winds. There are quite a few families with kids, but not in a overrun-by-chaos kind of way. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. The towels, sheets, and amenities are very nice. Views from the rooms are mostly pleasant and tropical, but partially obstructed by neighboring buildings.

The Kaimana is at the far end of Waikiki, a 10-minute walk from other hotels congested with traffic and stores that range from the tacky to the ultra-luxe. Depending on what you want, this is either a huge plus or a negative. If you want a fairly uncrowded beach, stay at the Kaimana. Beaches at the Royal Hawaiian and Halekulani are the size of postage stamps. (But the Kaimana has no pool, if that's a must for you.) The hotel's oceanfront Hau Tree Restaurant must be one of the most romantic places to dine in Honolulu. Food and service are both excellent. Fantastic views of city lights from corner rooms. No Diamond Head views. Definitely a calm-er Waikiki experience...a big plus for this traveler.

This place is truly a home away from home. The nicest location on the island for a beautiful beach, upscale casual decor, and friendly staff. You can not do better for the value of staying here and feeling like a part of the community. I 100% recommend.

Went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The staff was so welcoming, the views breathtaking… I wish we stayed here instead of where we did! Better prices for a more peaceful beach. Within 20 minute walking distance of tourist-y Waikiki and what a walk it was… so many trees, birds, and chill people.
